The IP leadership of the prestigious global AM firm is creating a new Partner-tracked Associate role. This position is being sponsored by key partners who sit on the firm’s executive and policy committees. This person will work with key IP Life Science National Partners. This role will involve being a point person for major key clients, large pharma and elite biotech companies. This person will extensively interact with clients, advising them on complex scientific matters that arise. The person will also be involved in complex patent prosecution, patent portfolio development, and complex IP transactional work, along with extensive client counseling. The matters will involve cutting-edge scientific matters, relating to molecular biology, cellular biology, and biotechnology.

The firm’s IP Life Science practice commands one of the single highest bill rates within the AM. This is because the group represents the world's most prestigious Big Pharma, Fortune biotech companies and many of the most prestigious start-up companies that are backed by well capitalized private equity investors.

Compensation: Compensation is on the Cravath Associate Scale. The group’s Associates bonus can also exceed the Cravath bonus payout. The firm provides an excellent working environment. The hour requirement is 1750. This includes hours for pro-bono work, training, and new business development. Actual billing hours are around the 1450-hour mark. The IP leaders provide excellent mentoring and are known to always have an open door. In addition, they don't require much face time, as long as the person is contributing to the group. The group operates in an entrepreneurial manner.

The qualified Associate should have 1 to 3 years’ experience and hold an advanced degree (Ph.D., Life Sciences). A strong molecular biology background is helpful and desired. As a result of the complex nature of the work and extensive client interaction, qualified candidates must have excellent academics, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. This role is based out of the firm’s New York City or Silicon Valley offices. The firm will pay for relocation to either location.
