Mid-Level Trial Litigation Associate Partner-Tracked
This AM international law firm has one of the most prestigious IP practice groups in the country. The firm is committed to the growth of their IP practice and has been successfully growing their IP practice group on all fronts over the past 5 years. Currently the leadership is in urgent need of expanding their National Tech Trial Litigation Team. Although many IP litigations settle prior to trial, the firm’s IP Tech Litigation Group has an influx of cases always coming into the group. This is mainly due to the group success of performing on behalf of the client they represent. The IP leadership has created a National Litigation team that for the most part only deals with trial bound cases. The leadership is seeking a Partner-Tracked Mid-Level Litigation Associate to join the group.
This Associate will work directly with Partners on patent infringement cases and prepare them for jury trials. This person will be responsible for drafting and responding to motions, participate in the selection of expert witnesses, taking and defending depositions, participate in legal research and legal strategies for trial bound cases. More trial responsibilities will be given to this person as they demonstrate the ability to handle them. This is not a lock-step role and the IP leadership welcomes the ability of this Associate to advance on an expedited path. The leadership is looking for a team oriented individual, as this person will have extensive client interaction, consulting clients on various technical and legal issues. The IP trial team often collaborates with other practice groups within the firm including litigation, international trade, antitrust, and venture capital.
The IP leaders who sit on the Executive, Admin, and Policy committees of the firm will be sponsoring this Associate walking in the door to be in a Partnership tracked position. The Partners are dedicated Partners who have an unpresented successful track record in IP Trial Litigations. The leadership is prepared to put together one of the highest Associate compensation plans in the country.
The qualified Associate should have 3 to 6 years of Biglaw experience. This Associate should hold a technical degree in electrical engineering or computer science. This Associate can base themselves out of the firm's Chicago or Los Angeles office. The firm will pay relocation expenses to either one of these cities. This Associate should have strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and superior academic credentials. Illinois or California bars are desired and USPTO a plus.
