ASSOCIATE PROSECUTION BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Prosecution,Transactions BIO,CHE Los Angeles 2014-2020

The IP leadership is looking to bring on board a Partner-tracked Associate to play a key leadership role on some of the group’s most prestigious clients. This Associate will manage key client engagements under the direction of the Co-Chair of the Life Science Practice group for this prestigious international AM firm.

These will be some of the most important clients to the firm’s national life science practice. This Associate will be involved in all aspects of patent prosecution. The clients will be emerging biotechnology companies, backed by prestigious private equity and VC companies. The patent matters will involve complex cutting edge biological science issues. In addition to managing the current prosecution portfolio, this Associate will be responsible for working closely with outside counsel and scientists to expand the client’s patent portfolio. Because this is Partner-tracked role, the IP leader will award slide origination to this Associate on all work related to patent portfolio development. The Associate will also work on IP transactional matters for emerging bio-technology clients and supervise and train Patent Agents and junior Associates in the group.

The qualified Associate should hold an advanced degree (Ph.D., or Masters) in life science studies, in the Biological Sciences or a related scientific field. A strong background in molecular biology is a plus. As a result of the complex nature of the work and the extensive client interaction, qualified candidates must have excellent academics, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. The position is in Los Angeles, CA but the leadership may consider a telecommute Associate. The firm will also pay for relocation expenses to Los Angeles.

The IP leadership will put together an above market compensation package. The firm compensates off lock step and will move upward of the Cravath scale, both for base salary and bonus for the right Associate. The IP practice group leaders provide excellent mentoring and are known to always have an open door. In addition, they don't require much face time, as long as the person is contributing to the group. The group operates in an entrepreneurial manner and has an excellent work-life balance.
