This position is with a prestigious AM firm and the position reports directly to the Global IP Chair. The Ip group has a unique operational structure whereas there is an upward mobility career path for Patent Agents to assume more responsibility and substantially increase their total compensation.  

The firm has a low billing hour requirement, facetime is not important, and this person will be able to control their own schedule in terms of physically coming into the office.  The leadership is based out of Boston, New York and Silicon Valley and the firm is open to telecommuting candidates as they already have Agents doing this.  The firm has invested large amounts of capital to build out their operation, so people do not need to come into the office.  This company philosophy and management operational platform to support people telecommuting was in place prior to the pandemic.  

The IP prosecution & counseling group services prestigious pharma and biotech companies, as well as start-ups that are backed by prestigious private equity companies. The work involves cutting edge complex patent matters, high billable prosecution work.  A strong emphasis is placed on patent portfolio development on clients assigned to the Agent. The Agents are mentored and developed and then given the opportunity to spearhead major clients' matters and work directly with the client to develop their patent portfolios. There is also significant IP transnational work available for the Agent to work on if desired to do so.  It should be also noted that the group manifests some of the highest billing rates in the country for Prosecution and Counseling work.  The group actually out bills the firm's IP litigation practice, and the firm has one of the most prestigious life science litigation practices in the nation. 

The leadership is seeking a Patent Agent with a minimum of 5 years Big Law experience working on prosecution and IP transactional matters. The IP leadership will consider someone with lighter Big Law experience if the person has strong industry experience. This Agent should have a PhD in Chemistry, or Biological Sciences from a top university along with excellent academics and excellent writing skills. Organic Chemistry and Molecular Biology is a plus.
